Four facts worth being clear about
- Every game has a house edge. Play enough rounds and the expected result is a loss, whether the game is Aviator, a slot or a fantasy contest, because that is how every one of them is built. No exceptions.
- Gambling isn’t income. One good week doesn’t make it earnings, any more than a bad week makes it a debt you’re owed back.
- No system beats an independent-round edge. Martingale, Fibonacci, prediction apps, signal channels. None of them changes the odds of a single round. They only change how fast the money moves.
- Chasing losses is where real harm starts. Almost every serious gambling problem runs through one belief, that the next bet gets the last one back.
Limit tools to ask for
These are the standard controls on real-money gaming apps. Ask Drem customer service which ones are available on your account.
| Deposit limits | A daily, weekly or monthly cap, set in account settings. Set it before a session starts. Lowering a limit normally takes effect at once; raising one usually has a built-in delay, and that delay is the point. |
|---|---|
| Session reminders | Where available, a prompt every so often showing how long you’ve been playing. Fast-round games distort your sense of time more than almost anything else. |
| Cooling-off | A short, fixed break, usually days to weeks, during which you can’t deposit or play. |
| Self-exclusion | A long or permanent block on the account. If you can’t find it in settings, ask in-app support and they’ll apply it. |
If a tool isn’t where you expect it to be, message our in-app support and ask them to apply it for you; a request to be limited or excluded is one they are required to act on, whatever the reason, and you don’t have to give one. Ask. That’s enough.
Warning signs
These are the ones that matter. Two of them together is reason enough to act now.
- Playing with money that was set aside for rent, bills, food or school fees, and telling yourself it will be back in the account before anyone notices it went.
- Borrowing to play. Selling things to fund a deposit.
- Depositing again straight after a loss, to win it back.
- Hiding how much or how often you play from people close to you.
- Playing longer than you meant to, most of the times you play.
- Feeling anxious, irritable or low when you’re not playing.
- Chasing a bonus’s wagering with stakes you wouldn’t otherwise make.
Practical steps that work
- Set the limit now
Decide the number while you’re calm and put it in the app. A limit set in advance is the only kind that holds during a bad session.
- Remove stored payment methods
Delete saved cards and UPI shortcuts. A little friction protects you. Instant deposits do the opposite.
- Tell one person the real number
Secrecy is what lets a problem grow. Saying the true figure out loud to one person, once, does more than you’d expect.
- Self-exclude if limits aren’t holding
Broken your own limit more than once? Then a limit is the wrong tool now. Exclusion is the right one.
- Talk to a professional
Free, confidential services exist and plenty of people use them. They’re listed below.
Free confidential help in India
Gambling harm is treated as a mental-health matter in India, which means the national services below are free, confidential, open to anyone in the country and staffed around the clock, and you don’t need a diagnosis or a referral to call them. You just call.
| Tele-MANAS | India’s national mental-health helpline, run by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. 14416 or 1-800-891-4416. Free, 24/7, in several Indian languages. |
|---|---|
| KIRAN | National mental-health rehabilitation helpline. 1800-599-0019. Free, 24/7, 13 languages. |
| Gamblers Anonymous India | Free peer support meetings, in person and online. Search “Gamblers Anonymous India” for the current meeting list in your city. |
| Your own doctor | A GP can refer you into mental-health services, and that is often the quickest route to ongoing support. |
If it is someone else
Lead with concern rather than accusation. Don’t lend money. Don’t cover losses either, because paying off what someone lost removes the one consequence that pushes them to change while leaving the problem exactly where it was. The helplines above take calls from family members too, and calling one yourself is a sensible first step.
18+ Real-money gaming is for adults only. In India it is governed by both central legislation and your own state’s rules, and the position changes. See our disclaimer. If you are under 18, or real-money online gaming is prohibited where you are, do not play.
